In more than 3 decades of showing Morgan Horses, we have been blessed with many wonderful show horses – among them, GNC Rogue Night Flight, WC Park Place Pledge, many time Park Harness Champion Carolina Cabaret, RWC & WC Charlestown Michael, 2-timeWC HPS Starchild, GNC Mantic Top Gun, GN & RW & WC Cabot’s First Confession, and most recently 2-timeGN & RWC Upper Echelon.  But by far the most exciting chapter of our “Morgan story” began in 1995 when Salem Command came into our life – and our world has never been the same!   This stunningly elegant stallion has given us moments of excitement in the showring that defy description – as when he won the G.N. Amateur Park Harness Stallion Championship in 1998 – and we have been blessed with countless hours of incredible joy in the everyday routines we share with him at home.

Since “Winston” was acquired to be an Amateur show horse, it was imperative that he have a good mind and a kind heart – and he most certainly does!  We never believed in sacrificing beauty for athletic ability, or in trading a kind and willing disposition for “attitude” – we believe that you can have it all, and we believe we found it all in this horse!

During his spectacular show career he accumulated a large and loyal fan club from coast to coast, and his image has been used over and over in advertising to promote the Morgan Horse because he epitomizes the things we value most about our breed – extreme beauty, elegance, athleticism – he has the “Morgan look” and he most certainly has the heart.

In 2009, at the age of 22, Winston came out of retirement to appear in a cameo role in the movie “Saving Winston”.  The movie is not about Salem Command, nor does he appear in the title role, but the film was named in his honor by the Screenwriter/Producer/Morgan Horse Trainer Jodi Johnson, who has known and loved him for many years – and he does appear on screen as a “harness horse in training” (a role for which this veteran performer was consummately prepared!)
